Plant maintenance & Irrigation Associate
PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTION
This associate will complete the tasks associated with gardening and maintaining the plants on a daily basis.
Duties include the following:
- Complete weeding, watering, pruning, perennial care, & pest implementation and management to ensure plants in the garden center are healthy and aesthetically pleasing.
- Feed plant material with appropriate products according to plant needs.
- Complete developmental pruning for trees and shrubs utilizing appropriate equipment.
- Complete maintenance activities for trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, and other garden center plants.
- Remove invasive and unwanted plant materials and maintain the plants on a daily basis.
- Communicates job needs and progress to the management team daily.
- Ensure tools, equipment, and materials are safely secured for storage as well as cleaned on a regular basis.
- Clear worksites of excess trash and debris before departing.
- Performs all other reasonably related job duties as assigned by department manager or management.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL
Age Requirement:
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Experience in horticulture and retail preferred, but not required.
Knowledge and abilities:
- Ability to perform substantial physical labor, outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions.
- Up to 1 or 2 years’ of experience preferred
- Must be creative and detail-oriented
- Emphasize a positive work environment that is fun and unique
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business - will require evenings & weekend work.
- Assertive approach to problem solving

- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and able to carry 15-20 pounds repeatedly through the length of greenhouse.
